Abstract
This paper points to the significance of reform changes in physical education teaching in schools and it accentuates both the traditional (formal) and contemporary (essential) approach to it. Moreover, the paper especially highlights the project approach to teaching physical education in terms of the new curriculum. Given the aforementioned, it is obvious that it is a new step in the reform of physical education teaching, which requires a significant contribution by all the participants in the process, in particular school management and physical education teachers.
