Abstract
The 21st –century society imposes on the entire educational and moral education system the need for change through everyday re-assessment, through improvement, and through life-long education of those whose job is to educate children and the young and to participate in their development and moral education. Research into educational and moral education practices present one of the ways of their improvement, as well as professional improvement at the same time, whether the participants of these activities are expert associates, educators in preschool institutions, or teachers in junior or senior grades. We have no doubt that there is a great deal of teachers who notice certain issues in their respective environments or who raise various issues as regards their everyday practice. Concerning the aforementioned issues, they can obtain credible answers through engagement in certain types of research, with preschool and school institutions featuring favourable contexts for such activities. For that reason, this paper aims at revealing the connection between professional development and research activities, which can be applied in preschool and school institutions and which can, through results gained, exert influence on personal philosophy of education and moral education and on introduction of necessary change into practice. Individual types of research and their respective specificities and research ideas are presented through the theoretical analysis method, with the most important feature of the paper being motivation of all actors in education and moral education to participate in activities designed to improve their performance.
